James Noble was the first Aboriginal Anglican clergyman in Australia. He was ordained Deacon at St George’s Cathedral in 1925. This special Commemoration of the 95th anniversary of his ordination will have a First Nations People focus and have some of the readings and liturgy in Noongar. The ceremony will be preceded by a traditional Smoking Ceremony to welcome people into the Cathedral. If you wish to participate in the Smoking Ceremony, please gather outside the Cathedral by 1.50pm.

Following the ceremony, there will be a launch of Bardip Ruth-Ang, “the Story of Ruth”, translated into Noongar. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. This is part of an ongoing project to translate the scriptures into Noongar, auspiced by the Bible Society.
