The impact of drug addiction is far reaching. It effects their parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Steve Hall, CEO of Adult Teen Challenge, joined Mike. Along with special guest Greg who shared his family’s struggle with drug addiction. Greg’s Rugby loving son Brad turned to drugs at age 16, when he suffered a career ending knee injury. “He started mixing with the wrong people and before long we didn’t recognise him anymore. I kept asking myself, how could it happen to such a normal happy family like ours? We’d pretended everything was ok when on the inside we were falling apart.”
Brad eventually got kicked out of home and they hardly ever saw him unless he needed money. “We had armed men come to our house demanding money…we ended up deep in debt.” But things turned around when he called his mum in the early hours of the morning. “I need help. If I don’t get help I’m going to end my life.” After hearing about Adult/Teen Challenge from a family friend, Brad agreed to attend the program. “God found him and turned his life around and Teen Challenge asked him to return as a mentor.”
“Dad, I’m going to give to other people what God gave me and that’s a second chance.”
