Dr Stuart Arbuckle, from St Johns Health. joined Mike to talk about Men’s Mental Health.¬†Depression and anxiety is common for Fathers after the birth of their first child. But because a lot of care and attention is needed for the mother and bub, the father’s mental health can fall by the way side. “The sense of being an elephant in the room, the sense of being a spare part…You feel like your not particularly¬† welcome.

The number one comment men make when they walk into Dr Stuart’s surgery is: “My Wife made me come in…she thinks I’m a bit down.” A lot of men don’t know how to talk about how they are feeling. Anxiety and depression can vary for each individual. The most common symptoms include a disinterest in things they once enjoyed, feeling down most days, poor sleep quality and irritability.
