The Queen’s beloved corgis will have to be rehomed. Moving house is just as stressful for animals as it is for humans. A new home means unfamiliar smells and noises which can make them anxious. It is not unusual for them to take a few weeks to resettle in their new home and get back to their normal routine.

Animals can sense something is wrong the moment you start packing boxes. But there are things you can do to help them feel more comfortable. Adaptil is a diffuser that saturates the air with a friendly pheromone secreted by dogs. This can help your dog feel calm. It also comes in a collar that can last up to 5-6 weeks. Dr Innis recommends using the collar a few weeks before and after the move. Because it only comes in one size you can snip off the end and put it in their bed. For cats, the brand is called Feliway and it also comes as a spray. You can use it on crucial areas like their bed and you don’t have to worry about it smelling or staining.
