Day Two: Vote for Hope June Appeal 2016

Matching Monday for Day Two of 98five’s Vote for Hope June Appeal Week could probably be more aptly named ‘manic Monday’ — finishing above an epic $122,000.

While generous 98five friends were matching your dollar for dollar all day, producers penned songs for their hosts, controversy was rife (no surprise, on Brekky), more #DropITandDance-ing happened (much to the dismay of some *cough* The Jazz Show’s Ash *cough*),  hosts attempted to analyse their shows using all sorts of methods including pie charts, pillows, Mentos, coffee beans, screws and photocopiers, others regretted taking on painful challenges for donations, and more!

Most of it is featured on our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat, but here are some of the highlights.

98five is a listener-supported station with more than half of operational costs covered by generous supporters. This year 98five needs $405,000 to continue to broadcast our positive message of hope throughout WA.

If you follow the Brekky show’s Daily Derby, it turns out last week, Morro cheated and 98five general manager Bevan also tampered with releasing Thursday’s results.

Which means, they’re throwing the DECIDER over to you for what should happen on this Friday’s Brekky show. Tune in at about 8.30am, weekdays, to cast your vote:
A) Morro attempted to cheat — but messaged the wrong answer to 20 friends — so Kirste wins?
B) Eagles supporters still texted through enough answers for Morro to win?
C) Boss Bevan tampered with the text line so Kirste and Morro draw for Term 2’s Daily Derby and both have to walk Narrows Bridge?
D) Got another idea?

After five-hours on-air, we may have broke Kirste…

The Lunch Wrap media team discussed how amazing our listening family were to help us break two goals before noon.

Daily, we’ve been humbled as you tell us why you donate to keep us on air.

Do you speak Malay, Mandarin or Vietnamese? Then our all-star admin support Jez and broadcast manager Chela are appealing to you:

And while we have a lot of fun doing what we do, the craziness is — first and foremost — to brighten the days of everyone who listens and supports 98five.

Bring on Day Three!
