Chris Pratt (star of Guardians of the Galaxy) was chosen to read the Christmas Story in Disney’s annual Candlelight Ceremony. In a culture that is so caught up in the commercialisation of Christmas, the Disney Candlelight Ceremony is a refreshing sight. Ever since the park opened in 1955 Disney’s Christmas event has been held every year. It has stayed deep-rooted in it’s traditional, deeply religious proceedings.
Over the hour-long spectacular Chris Pratt shares a passionate message of faith. He narrates the first story of Christmas, from the book of Luke in the Bible.
“Ladies and gentlemen, it was really my honor to share this beautiful Candlelight Ceremony with all of you,” Pratt said. “It’s been a very special and inspiring night. For me, being a parent has really changed my life in so many ways. And one of those ways is to understand, truly, the love that a father could have for a child.”
Pratt went on to relate God’s love for us to his own love for his son, who was in the audience.
The breathtaking affair also includes 700 musicians making up a live orchestra that accompanies a choir, parading down the main streets performing traditional Christmas carols.
