Choking and suffocation are common causes of accidental injury and death in children. Each year hundreds of children aged 0 to 15 years present to Princess Margaret Hospital Emergency Department as a result of a “threat to breathing” injury. Nearly one third of all presentations are admitted to hospital for further treatment.
Children under five years old represent approximately three-quarters of all children who present to PMH ED for choking.

Kidsafe WA CEO, Scott Phillips, joined the Mornings Show this morning to  run us through these facts and what we can do in these situations.
