Jodii Maguire from Think Performance Psychology joined Kirste and Dan to finish her series on mindsets.
Christmas is only a few weeks away and a lot of us have a long list of shopping to do, gifts to wrap, groceries to buy, and things to decorate on top of our daily schedule. So as we approach this busy time of year Jodii wanted to differentiate between a ‘busy’ and ‘productive’ mindset.
A busy mindset can build quite quickly without us being aware of it. So it is important to understand what your own language is when you feel busy. “When people ask how are you? We say things like ‘I have a million things to do’.” Once you have identified this, think about what is next.
Pick one or two things you can do that will move you forward. By doing this we can let go of the things we think we have to do but that don’t really matter in our lives. “Sometimes we feel really overwhelmed in the moment. So it’s a really good technique of one step at a time or what is next in every moment. So you get to use those strategies across days, weeks and moments.”
