Sally Hewitt from Aging Gratefully joined Mike on Weekdays to talk about building resilience.
Resilience means being able to overcome challenging situations. This can range from small things like missing out on a job or a tragic loss. Research shows there are 5 pillars to resilience: self awareness, mindfulness, self care positive relationships and purpose.
“We were never promised that life was going to be easy. Resilience is the gift we’ve been given to traverse those different cycles. Once we recognise that grief and heartbreak are normal cycles in life and that we have this ability to travel and deal with it more than we possibly give ourselves credit for, it helps to build resilience on itself.”
