School holidays can get really busy, really expensive and really draining on everybody. So, Jodii Maquire from Think! Performance Psychology gives us 2 tips on building resilience in our kids during the break.
1. Say no.
Instead of giving into every request for lunches, breakfasts, activities, movies etc…say no. BUT explain why, help them understand that there is a reason why we can’t do everything right now. The current generation is the ‘now’ generation, so we have to teach our kids that
“We can do everything we dream and have everything we want but not at the click of your fingers, it come’s with effort and work. “
2. Ask your kids to reflect on 3 good things that happened during the day.
The practice of gratitude is a powerful tool in building resilience.
