Every Monday Morning Graham Irvine from Riverview Church joins Mike in the studio to tackle the topics of parenting teenagers. This week the two discuss how to continue the conversation when your teenager only offers you an eye roll or death stare.

Graham discusses why it’s important to recognise that eventually your child will need you to become their coach rather than their boss. Graham guides us through this process and takes insight from Dr Thomas Gordon’s book ‘Parent Effectiveness Training: The Proven Program for Raising Responsible Children’.

“An adolescent does not rebel against his parents. He rebels against their power. If parents would rely less on power and more on non-power methods to influence their children from infancy on, there would be little for children to rebel against when they become adolescents… parents inevitably run out of power, and sooner than they think.” –  Dr Thomas Gordon
