Danzal Baker, known professionally as Baker Boy, is a 22-year-old, Indigenous Australian rapper, dancer, artist, and actor. Baker Boy is known for doing things his way by fusing together traditional language Yolngu Matha and cultural elements and current modern hip hop culture.
He made a special appearance last Sunday to help celebrate NAIDOC week and performed his remix of “Hickory Dickory Dock” – dance break included.
His performance was a part of Play Schools Acknowledgement of Country special episode. A new cast member “Kiya” was introduced too, an indigenous doll who will be a regular character.
“How moorditj (good) is Kiya? She’s one of our new Playschool friends all the way from Nyoongar country in Perth,” Play School host, Miranda Taspell captioned on Instagram. “Kiya also means hello in Nyoongar language.”
