Have you ever wondered where those “baby on board” signs came from? Probably a parent with a newborn, their first time on the road, incredibly stressed out about the ongoing traffic? Or at least something like that right …
Well wonder no more because Jeziel from The Drive Show has discovered to origin story of these signs.
These signs were actually created by a man who has never had children. All the way back in 1984 Michael Lerner was driving with his young nephew in the back seat.
“People were cutting me off, tailgating me, and I felt extraordinarily protective and concerned,” he told the Washington Post.
So what did he do about it? He bought the rights to a now infamous sign! It was an instant hit and Lerner couldnt keep up with demand. He become so successful after the Baby on Board signs, Lerner sold his company, Safety 1st, for a cool $54.3million!
