Packing school lunches is difficult…
It’s not easy to find healthy foods that your child will enjoy. One mum thought she found the perfect snack for her son to take to school until she took to an online forum, where it proved to be controversial. After asking if she could pack a boiled egg in her child’s lunchbox, she received divided opinions. Initially, she wanted to ask if the boiled egg would go bad if it was stored outside of the refrigerator for a few hours.
“I’ve just read that boiled eggs last for a week in the fridge. What if I cook 5 eggs on a Sunday and send my son in with one each day for his morning snack? In his words, he’s ‘so lucky’ any time I give him an egg so I’m not concerned about that… Just about if you would think that by Friday the egg would still be okay? Taking into consideration being out of the fridge for 2 hours or so before it’s eaten…”
Although most people agreed that it was a healthy and easy lunchbox snack some took issue with the smell. One user wrote: “Oh good heavens no. The smell of a boiled egg is pretty unsociable.” A second agreed: “Hard-boiled eggs smell disgusting so I would say totally unreasonable! I mean, it won’t harm your child at all but it’s very antisocial.“
