98five‘s Watering Day with Water for Africa
A single gift of $2.50 is all it takes to change a life.
In WA we’re so fortunate to have access to clean, safe drinking water. For some, this is not a possibility… the stark reality is that a child dies every 90 seconds from waterborne diseases. But when there’s a well, there’s a way. Join us for 98five’s Watering Day on March 17 as we join forces with Water for Africa to build life-saving wells in the villages of Tanzania.
A new water well costs $5,000, which will provide clean water to approximately 2,000 people in a rural community.
One water project will transform an entire community. Women and children, especially girls, carry the burden to collect water each day. On average they walk 6 kilometres a day carrying 20 litres of water each trip, often leaving them in vulnerable situations and not allowing them to attend school to receive an education.
For only $2.50 you can provide a person in Tanzania, Africa, access to clean, safe water. It’s the easiest change you’ll ever make.
A mother collects clean water from a pump located a few metres from her house. Not long ago she would have had to walk several kilometres to retrieve safe water for her family.
How does it work?
The Water for Africa model transforms lives by improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. Their local team maintain all newly installed water projects along with repairing and maintaining water wells in communities that are abandoned, broken or dysfunctional. Repaired water wells are adopted into our program to ensure a continuous flow of safe, clean drinking water for years to come.
Four children enjoy playing in clean water, free from E. Coli, Salmonella, Hepatitis A and other waterborne diseases.
