Winter has well and truly come to Perth and the kids are on break so for those parents and carers wondering what to do these school holidays, here’s what’s popped up around our City for the cold season.

Here are our top picks for what’s on this winter school holidays around Perth.

1. Ice skating

There’s a bunch of ‘winter wonderland’ pop-up rinks around the city.

Winterworld, Hillarys — until July 17

And, of course, there’s the permanent rinks: Cockburn Ice Arena, Xtreme Ice Arena in Mirrabooka, and Perth Ice Arena in Malaga.

2. City of Perth’s Winter Arts Season

Family activities include free roller skating in the heart of the City suitable for children aged 3 to 12 years, The Tales of Beatrix Potter at Perth Town Hall and Saltbush, a visual journey filled with immersive dance, music and beautiful narratives of two Aboriginal friends and a rugged Australian landscape, at the State Theatre Centre.

3. Wonders of the World LEGO exhibition

An interactive experience on at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre until July 30. www.thebrickman.com/wonders

 

4. Lights by DreamWorks: The Experience

Held under the Big Top at Crown Perth, this is an interactive, large-scale lantern walk-through experience of some of DreamWork Animations’ best know characters such as Shrek and Kung-Fu Panda, which runs until July 23. www.dreamworkslights.com.au

5. Winter School Holiday Activities at Perth Cultural Centre

There’s a bunch of free activities running until July 16 across the Art Gallery, State Library and WA Museum’s Discovery Zone. Check out the full program.
